Playing in the school yard

The programme “PLAYING in the school yard”  began in 2016 as part of the Open Schools initiative of the Municipality of the city of Athens. The programme run in preschools and  primary schools, after teaching hours and simultaneously targets the teachers, parents and children in the school. A play event using recyclable loose parts was organized for the children in the schoolyard, while at the same time the teachers and parents take part in a play promotion presentation. After the presentation the parents and teachers observed the play that took place in the schoolyard and were invited to take part if they wish. 

The program was implemented in 19 primary schools. 

750 children participated

156 parents and teachers participated

24 volunteers were trained for the program
